Command and Control Rooms
· Israeli companies are currently involved in security and HLS-related programs, providing sophisticated solutions ranging from automated speech recognition systems and remote sensors to video image location and identification, early warning devices and advanced tactical imaging systems.
· Major players in the military and defense sector today include Elbit, Tadiran, Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Rafael, Elisra, ELTA, Palsan and Israel Military Industries (IMI) which provide “spin off” technologies and products to this market.
· 15 Israeli companies participated in a $200 million project for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Activities included venue protection, command and control rooms, maritime security, airports, urban security, crowd control, preparation of law-enforcement units, access control, communications and more. Several companies have also been involved in securing the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, Sidney in 2000 and presently in Beijing. Israeli security companies will also be part of the 2012 Olympic Games, to be held in London.
· Israeli companies work closely with prime security integrators in the United States such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, and others
· Recently, Israeli-made physical protection equipment for vehicles, buildings and bodies have been supplied to international forces and organizations active in other areas of conflict throughout the world.
· Israeli companies and the Israel National Police offer training and assistance to police and Special Forces in the USA, Europe, South America, Southeast Asia and Africa.
· The Homeland Security Pact, signed in 2007 by the US and Israel, set a series of goals for security collaboration between the two nations, including the sharing of information regarding terror and criminal activities, airport and flight security procedures, emergency planning and research and development in the field of explosives detection..
Statistics
· An estimated 600 Israeli companies are active in the security sector, with the following breakdown: 35% Technologies, 35% Products, 20% IT & Software 10% Services
· Approximately 350 Israeli security companies export their products worldwide.
· The annual turnover in the security industry is approximately $4 billion, with 25% of that, or $1 billion, exports.
· The sector market growth is forecasted at 10-15% per year through 2010.
