 Iscar is a recognized leader in precision metalworking tools.

 

 

Highlights

·         1952-Iscar was established by Israeli entrepreneur and industrialist, Stef Wertheimer, as a one-man shop on the family’s kitchen porch.

·         1968-"ISCAR blades" plant was established, later renamed to "Blades Technology," when it joined forces with Pratt & Whitney and Rolls Royce. Blades Technology is now one of the largest manufacturers of blades for turbofan engines.

·         Iscar Metalworking is one of 60 companies situated at the Tefen park complex and currently employs over 4,000 workers, many of them Druze and Arab.

·         Iscar Metalworking is represented in nearly 100 countries, where its products are used in the automotive, aerospace, die and mold, medical and electronics industries.

·         Iscar Metalworking Companies (IMC) is comprised of several companies, including Iscar, TaeguTec, Ingersoll and others.

·         Over 50% of Iscar Metalworking’s sales volume comes from products developed within the last five years.

·         The company devotes approximately 10% of its total resources to R&D activities with over 10% of its employees involved in the process.

·         2008-Prominent IMC customers in Israel include the Israeli Defense Ministry, and the Israeli aerospace industry.

·         The U. S. Corporate Headquarters and manufacturing facilities are located in Arlington, Texas.

 

Investments and Returns

 

·         2006-In its first investment deal outside of the U.S. and the largest corporate deal in Israel's history, Warren Buffett's investment company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc, made a legendary 80% acquisition of Iscar Metalworking for $4 billion.

·         2007-Buffet inaugurated an Iscar plant in Dalian, China. Built at a $50 million investment, it is a smaller copy of the mother plant in Tefen, Israel.

·         2007-IMC acquired Unitac,a Japanese cutting-tool manufacturer.

·         IMC has grown into the world’s second largest metalworking  manufacturer, with over 6,000 employees worldwide and subsidiary offices and agents located in 52 major industrial countries.

·         IMC reports an average of 15% annual growth and generates approximately $1 billion in exports per year.
