Motorola Israel is comprised of several business groups and subsidiaries that are actively involved in developing and manufacturing its parent company’s communication components, products, systems and networks, as well as marketing, selling and servicing all Motorola products.
Highlights:
· Multinational electronics corporation Motorola established Motorola Israel Ltd, the first wholly-owned subsidiary outside the United States in 1964.
· 1987-Motorola South Israel Ltd. was established in Arad and became Motorola Israel’s principal production site, and an integral part of Motorola Inc. The facility produces two-way radios, data products, modems, cellular phones, alarm and control systems and telematics products.
· 1996-Motorola Israel became responsible for engineering, marketing and sales for the Eastern European and Central African markets.
· 2000-Motorola South Israel manufactures over one million devices per year.
· 2003-Motorola Israel designs and produces the Motorola Spirit - the unique and innovative fixed car phone.
· 2004-Motorola Israel is selected to provide a protected satellite communication system for security forces at the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece.
· 2007-Motorlola builds 4th R&D center in northern Israel for $70 million.
· 2007-Motorola establishes an R&D site in the Jordan Valley and employs over 200 engineers and researchers.
· Motorola Israel currently employs over 3000 people in its four plants throughout the country.
Investments and Returns:
· 1986-Motorola launched "Pelephone", Israel's first cellular operator.
· 1988-Beeper Communications Israel Ltd. was founded by Motorola Israel and Beeper Pagecall, a leading public paging service provider and one of Israel’s largest call center organizations.
· 1998-Motorola Israel established MIRS Communications Ltd., a provider of integrated wireless mobile communications services, serving over 320,000 subscribers.
· 2007-Motorola acquired Israeli Terayon for $140 million
· 2007-Motorola invested in Israel's Mobimate, a Blackberry information tool.
· Motorola Israel had revenues of $1.143 billion in 2007
· 2008-Motorola puchases land to build Kiryat Motorola at Airport City.
· 2008-Ampal-American Israel Corporation bought one third interest in Motorola Israel for $110 million
